Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse 4

Join the State of Washington Department of Corrections as a Licensed Practical Nurse 4 (LPN4) at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, WA.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN4) to provide high-quality patient care in a correctional setting. As an LPN4, you will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver safe and effective care to offenders.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and collect data on the health status of offenders, report results to the Registered Nurse, and assist in developing nursing diagnoses and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of the plan of care, prioritize and sequence care, and carry out the plan of care by performing common therapeutic nursing interventions.
  • Administer medication, provide patient education, and prepare release medications in anticipation of offender transfer or release.
  • Participate in treatments, dressing changes, and minor surgical procedures, and evaluate and carry out licensed practitioners' written, verbal, and telephone orders.
  • Provide emergency medical care, including CPR, and supervise and assign tasks to subordinate staff on the nursing team.
Requirements:
  • Two years of experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse or an unencumbered Multistate License from a participating Compact Licensure State.
  • Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Training by the American Heart Association in Healthcare Provider CPR.
  • Proficient in using computer-based programs to schedule, monitor, and track patient information, perform data entry, and communicate via email.
