Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrician II - Circuit Breaker Technician to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). This is a career-indefinite position that offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of electrical trade functions, including inspection, operation, installation, repair, replacement, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical components and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform journey-level specialized electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, operations, repair, replacement, testing, and troubleshooting of circuit breakers.
  • Perform maintenance, operations, construction, repairs, and testing on facility electrical systems and associated equipment to restore systems to operational condition.
  • Provide effective and timely customer service to clients and team members, interacting with facility managers, facility point-of-contacts, inspectors, and ES&H technicians.
  • Work with other craft personnel and provide technical guidance, analyzing, preparing, and delivering reports required for managing projects, work orders, and preventative maintenance records.
  • Complete preventative maintenance requests, deficiency reports, and work orders using a personal computer, following all national, local, and Laboratory safety procedures and policies.
Requirements
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and completion of related apprentice training program or equivalent journey-level work experience in the electrician trade.
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain, inspect, operate, install, repair, replace, test, and troubleshoot circuit breakers and electrical components, including circuit breaker test sets and programming circuit breaker trip units.
  • Basic journey-level skills, knowledge, and abilities in the electrician trade, including electrical codes and applicable Safety policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of all hand tools and portable power tools of the trade, with effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact and work independently and effectively with other crafts personnel, team members, managers, administrative staff, and provide essential customer service to clients.
  • Basic computer skills necessary to prepare logs and reports, send and receive e-mails, perform computer-based training, and timekeeping entry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Journey-level skills, knowledge, and abilities in the electrician trade, including electrical codes and applicable ES&H laws and regulations.
  • Specialized skills, knowledge of, and ability to maintain, inspect, operate, install, repair, replace, test, and troubleshoot circuit breakers.
  • Valid State of California General Electrician License.
