Overview

We invite applications for the role of Mathematics Educator at Renton Technical College (RTC). This position is part of a collaborative effort to enhance the educational experience for our diverse student body. We are particularly interested in candidates who can deliver in-person instruction across a range of mathematics courses, from foundational algebra to advanced calculus.

RTC is dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports a wide array of learners. Our curriculum includes courses such as AMATH 175 Financial Math and AMATH 190 Financial Algebra, along with introductory statistics and calculus sequences. We prioritize the use of open educational resources (OER) to ensure accessibility for all students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a respectful and equitable learning atmosphere that encourages critical thinking and appreciation for diversity.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in mathematics, adhering to the established curriculum.
  • Design and implement inclusive teaching strategies that cater to a variety of learning styles and backgrounds.
  • Assess student progress through a range of evaluative methods, including assignments, projects, and exams.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and submit necessary documentation in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • A demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.
  • For teaching AMATH 175 or AMATH 190: A Bachelor's degree in mathematics or math education.
  • For teaching transfer courses in statistics, pre-calculus, and calculus: A Master's degree in mathematics, math education, or a related field with significant mathematics coursework.
  • Ability to create engaging learning experiences that respect cultural differences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students.
Employment Terms

This is a part-time faculty position with compensation based on credit hours taught. Additional stipends are available for advanced degrees. All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and will undergo background checks as part of the hiring process.
