Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Behavior SPED Paraprofessional. This role will provide support to students with behavioral needs, working closely with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, as needed.
  • Provide supervision for students assigned to the In-School Suspension classroom.
  • Work with students and staff on issues related to behavior management and prevention of undesirable behaviors.
  • Monitor ISS assignments, provide encouragement and feedback to students, and offer instructional assistance as needed.
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, working with individual students, small groups, or the whole class.
  • Help supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  • Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
  • Must meet one of the following options when hired:
  • At least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education.
  • Obtained an associate's degree or higher.
  • Meet a rigorous standard of quality test.
  • Ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods, and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment.
  • Ability to work well with children.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Some experience working with children and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is encouraged.
