Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of precise and timely financial statements that adhere to established accounting principles.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial documents such as Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and other analytical reports.
- Support the reconciliation processes for the general ledger and its subsidiary ledgers.
- Engage in Accounts Payable and payroll activities, ensuring accurate processing in the absence of the bookkeeper.
- Facilitate the reconciliation of all bank statements, including those involving paying agents.
- Participate in the review and analysis of monthly revenue reports.
- Assist in the monthly preparation of PSC fuel adjustments.
- Provide support to the VP of Financial Services/CFO in resolving issues and managing departmental operations during their absence.
- Contribute to the annual audit process.
- Respond to information requests from member-consumers.
- Prepare and remit monthly school tax reports and bi-weekly Kentucky withholding tax reports.
- Monitor daily Accounts Receivable balances, ensuring accurate reconciliation of bank deposits.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end wage tax statements (W-2) and distribute them to employees.
- Prepare year-end miscellaneous income forms (1099) and ensure proper distribution to vendors.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end 1095-C forms for employees.
- Oversee the billing and reconciliation of medical, dental, vision, and life insurance expenses.
- Manage miscellaneous billings and ensure accurate accounting entries in the general ledger.
- Support cost accounting initiatives and work order systems.
- Participate in month-end closing activities and general ledger procedures.
- Engage in special projects as directed by the VP of Finance/CFO.
- Complete the Department of Energy Report and prepare financial reports for East Kentucky Power.
- Administer annual billing for pole attachment and joint use rentals.
- Process capital credit refunds for member estates.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting is required. A CPA designation is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in the accounting sector, particularly within a utility environment, is desirable.
