Job Summary

This position is responsible for the monitoring and controlling operation of all Plant equipment under their control in accordance with written plant procedures complying with all applicable NERC standards under the supervision of the ROC Shift Lead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control Plant equipment in accordance with written plant procedures and NERC standards.
  • Collaborate with ROC Shift Lead and other team members to improve shift efficiency and productivity.
  • Exercise initiative and use experience, training provided, and good judgment to make decisions within prescribed operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with ROC leadership, SCADA engineers, and plant personnel to provide suggestions and recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform regular, per-site checks to ensure quality and accuracy of alarm points' real-time telemetered generation information.
  • Evaluate system alarms and irregularities, taking corrective action as outlined in established guidelines to troubleshoot generation faults and restore plant to normal operating conditions.
  • Document and log all system events during shift and effectively communicate all new information to all team members and ROC leadership.
  • Report scheduled, unscheduled, and forced outages to regional QSEs responsible for the plant.
  • Use trend data from various SCADA programs to provide weekly or monthly reports to plants in accordance with communication protocols established by applicable Asset Managers.
  • Team up with ROC leadership, SCADA engineers, and IT professionals to recommend implementations to SCADA UI and displays.
  • Assist with development of training programs to increase the efficiency and capabilities of entry-level Junior operators as well as current team members.
Requirements
  • Three or more years in power generation, renewable energy, or related energy operations.
  • Three or more years' experience with operating SCADA-based DCS systems such as Delta V, Pavilion, or Ignition.
  • Thorough knowledge of AC theory, power flow, varied plant power production methods, power control relay protections, power system equipment and technology, system operating limits, or a combination of the above.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership characteristic, solid work ethic, and tenacity to seek out opportunities for departmental improvement through writing SOPs, providing training, and implementing procedure/protocol in conjunction with ROC leadership.
  • Ability to take on multiple assignments and complete them in a timely manner.
  • Self-motivated and competent in analytical problem-solving, critical thinking, strong interpersonal skills for customer rapport with high attention to detail.
  • Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office suite with strong competency in Word and Excel.
