Armed Security Officer Job Overview

The Armed Security Officer is responsible for fulfilling local, state, and federal obligations as a licensed armed security professional. Key responsibilities include responding to emergencies, enforcing applicable laws, conducting mobile patrols, performing inspections and searches, managing traffic enforcement, detaining and transporting individuals, and safeguarding company property. The officer is equipped with necessary firearms and is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of the premises.

Key Responsibilities

Adhere to all organizational policies and safety protocols while executing assigned duties responsibly.Report to duty in the designated uniform, equipped with all necessary gear.Utilize appropriate levels of force when necessary.Participate in pre-shift briefings, receiving specific instructions for assigned duties.Execute both general and specific orders relevant to the assigned post.Communicate effectively through radio, telephone, and in-person interactions as required.Engage with the public and government officials as necessary.Manage access control, oversee traffic, and conduct both foot and vehicle patrols.Maintain the cleanliness and readiness of uniform and equipment.Follow established standard operating procedures and regulations regarding the security of personnel and property.Conduct thorough checks of personnel, vehicles, and facilities, as well as inspect packages and parcels.Be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.Must be at least 21 years old.Preferred qualifications include two years of military service or equivalent experience in physical security, or an Associate's Degree in a related field.Possession of a valid state driver's license is mandatory.Eligibility for National Security Clearance at the Secret level is required.Must meet or exceed medical and physical standards for armed security personnel.Quarterly qualification with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, M4 rifle, and shotgun is necessary.Completion of the Active Shooter Threat Training Program is required.Initial and random drug testing must be passed.Initial psychological evaluation must be successfully completed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient in using personal computers and standard office equipment.Skilled in various software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.Demonstrates tact and respect in interactions; remains composed under pressure; takes responsibility for actions; and fulfills commitments.
