Technical Project Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager to join our Chicago team at STRUCTURAL, a leading provider of engineering support, repair, and maintenance services. As a Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the company in bringing our capabilities to various markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide technical support to business development efforts through web-based meetings, in-person meetings, emails, and phone calls with STRUCTURAL current and potential clients.
  2. Collaborate with in-house Estimators and Business Development teams to review design/build estimates and develop proposals.
  3. Draft and support the development of technical packages for submission on projects and for internal discussions.
  4. Participate in project review calls in support of Business Development efforts.
  5. Work with the engineering team to develop repair solutions that can be executed in an efficient and timely manner.
  6. Draft summaries of projects for use as case histories on our website and submit abstracts for technical conferences.
  7. Analyze data to facilitate repair solution development with engineering, project management, and construction teams.
  8. Assist in coordinating and participating in the review of deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and written reports.
  9. Facilitate and participate in the assessment and design presentation of findings for both customer and internal review.
  10. Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions while working with internal contracts teams as needed.
  11. Develop and manage integrated schedules in collaboration with engineering, project management, and field leadership.
  12. Drive and communicate project schedules, progress, and completion to ensure all parties are aware of milestones and expectations.
  13. Maintain profit and loss responsibility as well as other project financials, including projections and invoicing.
  14. Provide strong leadership and supervision to project teams and subcontractors.
  15. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  16. Demonstrate dedication to safety and quality control on all projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field of study.
  • 3+ years of experience in a professional environment related to civil/structural engineering or construction industries.
  • Strong understanding of sales functions, procedures, and standards along with structural and civil engineering concepts and practices.
  • Ability to interface well with all levels of the organization internally and externally with partner agencies and customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work within the Protected Area (PA) of Nuclear Plants with unescorted access.
  • Possess the ability to pass all training and background requirements for Nuclear Plant access.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
