Reliability Engineer

GATX Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer to join our team in Chicago. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for optimizing the reliability of our rail fleet and driving strategic improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and track key fleet performance indicators to drive strategic improvement in SQDC.
  • Set and monitor quantitative metrics for fleet reliability goals.
  • Utilize Weibull++ and other reliability software to manage GATX's reliability program.
  • Optimize the schedule and standard work for planned maintenance events.
  • Analyze needs and prevent unplanned maintenance events.
  • Support implementation of reliability benefits in GATX instructions, specifications, reporting, computer systems, policies, and process.
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Engineering, Data Analytics, or other technical discipline.
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Familiarity with statistics and formal methods of data analysis.
  • Certification in reliability engineering data analysis and modeling is a plus.
  • Experience with Rail car design and repair, car rules and regulations is a plus.
