As a Public Utilities Regulatory Analyst III, you will play a critical role in supporting the Public Utilities Commission's efforts to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient energy services for California residents. Under the general direction of the Project and Program Supervisor, you will assist high-level decision makers in evaluating competing policy proposals for Tariff Rules 21, 15, 16, and 2. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing regulatory, policy, and technical issues to make recommendations that support safety, reliability, and state climate goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and analyze policy proposals for Tariff Rules 21, 15, 16, and 2
- Assist in the evaluation of competing policy proposals
- Make recommendations based on independent analysis of regulatory, policy, and technical issues
- Develop analyses for and make recommendations regarding the CPUC's rulemakings
- Review and provide policy feedback on proposed legislative bills
- Oversee implementation of programs resulting from CPUC and legislative processes
- Experience in public utilities and/or transportation in the areas of economics, finance, or policy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures
This position requires occasional in-person attendance for onboarding and orientation, certain trainings, team building activities, and collaborative meetings. All state employees must reside in California.
