Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a highly skilled Cytology Technical Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing technical tasks in the area of cytology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform microscopic examination of cellular specimens to recognize, identify, and screen for evidence of morphologic changes.
  • Analyze and classify cellular constituents in accordance with established criteria.
  • Identify questionable cellular configuration and review patient clinical history to establish preliminary interpretation of abnormal morphological features.
  • Prepare final reports of gynecological cytology specimens and present abnormal specimens to pathologists for evaluative diagnosis.
  • Perform cytopreparatory techniques, staining, and cover slipping procedures, ensuring adherence to established techniques and departmental quality control standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
  • Three years' technical experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
