Job Overview:
As a Mortgage Underwriter I, you will be responsible for evaluating and approving mortgage applications in accordance with established guidelines. Your role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of loan documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and underwrite mortgage loans to meet servicer standards.
- Stay updated on changes in investor guidelines and the financial landscape.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws such as ECOA, RESPA, and Regulation Z.
- Collaborate with loan origination teams for effective loan structuring.
- Work closely with mortgage processors and other underwriters to enhance loan file quality.
- Exercise independent judgment in underwriting decisions.
- Assist in developing and maintaining departmental policies.
- Contribute to departmental projects and initiatives.
- Adhere to all relevant state and federal regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- 3-5 years of underwriting or related experience.
- Compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008.
- A BA/BS degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
