The specialist is proficient in executing and interpreting a variety of testing complexities, including waived, moderate, and high complexity tests, and is skilled in performing routine phlebotomy across diverse patient demographics. The scientist is responsible for interpreting quality control data, troubleshooting and resolving quality control discrepancies, engaging in quality assurance initiatives, and operating laboratory equipment effectively.Key Responsibilities:
Adheres to established protocols: demonstrates expertise in evaluating specimen acceptability, communicates proper specimen collection and transportation guidelines, and addresses specimen issues with caregivers while ensuring accurate documentation. Utilizes available technologies to efficiently record and manage data in daily operations in accordance with standard procedures. Conducts, interprets, and reports on tests for which the individual has been validated, showcasing knowledge of clinical disease presentations and technical testing elements to ensure timely and precise diagnostic outcomes. Organizes and prioritizes tasks to enhance both individual and departmental efficiency, ensuring completion of workload in line with established standards. Collaborates with colleagues and communicates effectively as needed. Analyzes quality control data, investigates and resolves quality control issues based on predefined criteria, and documents all actions taken while notifying relevant authorities as necessary. Demonstrates operational knowledge of laboratory instruments, performing maintenance and minor repairs, and recognizing when major repairs or replacements are required. Identifies procedural or technical challenges, applying initiative and independent judgment to implement corrective measures, while documenting issues and resolutions promptly. Provides on-site support to laboratory staff to assist in resolving technical challenges in line with established policies and procedures. Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned to fulfill departmental and organizational needs.Certification Requirements:
