About the Role

The Senior Associate Director of Development, Annual Giving will be responsible for conceiving a broad vision for the annual fund program, identifying, qualifying, renewing, and retaining donors. This role will create and advance long- and short-term strategies, yearly annual fund plans, and execute upon that vision, measuring progress and partnering with the development communications team for Dell Medical School.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess existing Dell Med annual giving program to set fundraising, participation, and qualitative goals and develop short- and long-term strategies to drive toward creating a $5M+ annual fund program.
  • Develop and lead a robust, best-in-class, multidimensional, and multichannel grateful patient annual fund program.
  • Launch Dell Med's alumni and faculty annual giving programs with a goal of 50% participation for each graduating class and 50% total faculty participation by 2026.
  • Create and manage the annual fund calendar of multidimensional and multichannel appeals, leveraging the development communications editorial calendar, events calendar, and the Dell Med public relations team editorial calendar to support donor retention, renewal, and acquisition.
  • Carry a portfolio of leadership giving capacity annual fund donors with a goal to further qualify and cultivate for future gift officer management.
  • Work closely with the prospect research and management team to identify and assess potential campaign and planned gift prospects, building a pipeline between annual, campaign, and planned giving.
  • Work closely with prospect research and management, donor relations, leadership giving, and events teams to move qualified donors into gift officer portfolios for further cultivation that leads to major and principal level gifts.
  • Plan and execute targeted campaigns in partnership with Texas Development annual fund team, including UT's 40 Hours for the Forty Acres campaign and Dell Med/health-focused donor acquisition campaigns targeting 100K+ people to drive the MG and PG donor identification goals that support the UTMC campaign and sustain the ongoing philanthropic needs through a robust annual fund program for years to come.
  • Manage peer-to-peer and third-party fundraising efforts, identifying and implementing opportunities for corporate partnerships in collaboration with the Dell Med corporate and foundation relations team.
  • Ensure effective administration of annual fund gifts through acknowledgment letters, recognition of donors in the annual impact report, and the delivery of any necessary reports and communications in partnerships with the development communications and donor relations teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in fundraising strategy, donor relations, and/or annual giving.
  • One year of experience managing direct reports, teams of staff, student workers, or clerk-level associates.
  • Experience advancing development efforts in academic medicine, health sciences, health care, or related disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with experience leading annual fund programs.
  • Experience mining and analyzing data and running reports.
  • Experience working with senior administrators, faculty, and gift officers.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and manage details of several concurrent projects.
  • Experience using reporting tools and donor management software.
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possession of a passion for health care.
  • Five years of experience in fundraising strategy, donor relations, and/or annual giving.
  • Two to three years of experience managing direct reports and/or teams.
  • Proven success managing grateful patient programs.
  • Experience with fundraising database and knowledge of prospecting tools and reports within fundraising systems or other prospective donor relations systems.
  • Experience creating reports that yield various data measurements and ability to analyze the data to inform strategy.
  • Experience using Eloqua email client and data reporting software like Tableau.
  • Search-engine optimization experience preferred.
  • Proven self-starter capable of making sound, ethical, independent judgments.
  • Personal and professional confidence, accompanied by a sense of humor and empathy toward others.
