About the Role

CesiumAstro is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer II to join our team of innovators and pioneers in out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems for Cesium products through all phases of the development process, from initial concept design to requirements definition, detailed design, simulation, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and present engineering design review materials to customers and leadership team, utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in mechanical design, simulation, and analysis, and apply this knowledge to improve Cesium's products and processes.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in design and analysis of electronics packaging, including thermal, vibration, and stress dynamics or in spacecraft structures and mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with electronics assemblies and experience working closely with electrical engineers.
  • Experience with professional mechanical and FEA CAD tools, such as Solidworks Simulation.
  • Experience with CNC manufacturing.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Aerospace industry design, development, and qualification.
