Position Summary: The Personal Care Assistant role is essential for individuals who require assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, eating, and maintaining personal hygiene. Personal Care Assistants typically support elderly or disabled clients in either residential or home care environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer prescribed medications to clients
  • Assist clients with mobility and movement within their home or during outings (doctor visits, walks, etc.)
  • Support clients with personal hygiene and grooming
  • Facilitate clients' participation in physical therapy and prescribed exercises
  • Assist with shopping tasks or accompany clients during shopping trips as necessary
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks that clients are unable to manage, including meal preparation
  • Gather information regarding clients' conditions and treatment plans from healthcare professionals and family members
  • Report any unusual occurrences to healthcare providers and family members
  • Respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a caregiving role is preferred but not mandatory
  • Current CPR Certification (American Heart Association)
  • Commitment to adhering to health and safety protocols
  • Familiarity with housekeeping duties and meal preparation, considering dietary needs
  • Must exhibit respect and compassion, demonstrating a strong bedside manner
  • Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Physical stamina to perform required tasks
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
