Waste Removal Operations Specialist

The Waste Removal Operations Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient removal of waste from customer sites across multiple lines of business.

The CDL Driver will collect waste from customer locations and transport it to post-collection facilities for proper disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a roll-off truck and ancillary equipment to collect waste.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and reports, daily truck report, route sheets, and other documentation as requested by supervisor.
  • Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to mechanic and supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain route quality standards as predetermined by management.
  • Operate the truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
  • Follow all safety standards, equipment checks, and precautions in the performance of all duties, complying with federal, state, local, and company rules on safety and vehicle operation, including any required customer-specific rules or regulations.
  • Communicate any potential hazards in serving/picking up containers to Supervisor/Lead prior to performing the task.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle by cleaning the cab interior and exterior.
  • Report all accidents or incidents to supervisor(s) immediately.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor, manner, and appearance at all times, including meeting customers and/or the general public while on route or in uniform.
  • Evaluate the need for personal protective equipment and ensure its use at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed.
  • Work closely with supervisor to improve routing efficiencies.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings.
  • May be required to work overtime.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is desired.
  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
  • Must meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe driving skills and operate the necessary equipment.

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell.
  • Visual Requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Sitting is required up to 75% of the time due to primary function of driving.
  • Ability to work in usually loud conditions.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy weather, extreme hot and cold temperatures, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Work in an outdoor environment up to 100% of the time.
  • Works away from branch location on a continuous basis throughout the day.
  • Occasionally work in high precarious places.
  • Work in motor vehicle traffic conditions constantly.
  • Work environment is usually loud.
