The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering various therapeutic interventions for patients experiencing injuries or disabilities, following a care plan devised by a licensed Physical Therapist.

This position operates under the direct oversight of the Physical Therapist.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To excel in this role, an individual must competently perform each key responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodations, including but not limited to:

1. Engaging with patients and their families by instructing them on the use of therapeutic equipment, home exercise regimens, and other essential techniques for post-discharge care.

2. Collaborating with patients, families, and other stakeholders to establish follow-up care that aligns with the objectives outlined in the care plan created by the Physical Therapist.

3. Implementing treatment protocols for assigned patients, which may include modality treatments, therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, gait training, wound care, and more, in accordance with the established care plan.

4. Documenting patient responses to treatments and tracking progress in the patient's medical records; daily and/or weekly notes must be completed and filed as per policy guidelines.

5. Providing guidance and technical support to Physical Therapy Assistant students, technicians, and aides in executing patient care tasks.

6. Educating and advising patients and their families on the use of assistive devices and exercise techniques to be practiced at home, following the care plan set by the Physical Therapist.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in a similar role as a Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant.

EDUCATIONAL AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory: Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of employment.

Valid CPR Certification.

Current driver's license and auto liability insurance as per company policy.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position may necessitate unscheduled overtime and weekend shifts.

Flexibility in working hours is essential.

Travel may be required.

Reliable transportation is a must.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The role involves frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
