Medical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary:
RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing samples of blood, tissue, and body fluids to determine chemical content, cell count, drug levels, or blood type. They will also search for specific microorganisms like bacteria or parasites.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, and spinal fluids
Processing and receiving samples of blood, urine, and body fluids
Performing and interpreting clinical laboratory tests, obtaining data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease
Analyzing blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures
Preparing blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, clinical laboratory science, or similar degree in chemistry or biology
One year of training in a clinical laboratory as per CLIA and NJ DOH regulations
American Society for Clinical Pathology Certification (ASCP) or equivalent certification
