Medical Technologist Generalist

As a Medical Technologist Generalist at RWJBarnabas Health, you will play a vital role in analyzing samples of blood, tissue, and body fluids to determine chemical content, cell count, drug levels, or blood type. You will work independently, organizing your work to meet established deadlines and recording all data obtained in the computer and/or log book.
Key Responsibilities:
Determine normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, and spinal fluids
Process and receive samples of blood, urine, and body fluids
Perform and interpret clinical laboratory tests, obtaining data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease
Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures
Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests
Ensure operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating, completing preventive maintenance requirements, and performing quality control
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a similar degree in Chemistry or Biology with required semester hours and one year of training in a clinical laboratory as per CLIA and NJ DOH regulations
American Society for Clinical Pathology Certification (ASCP) or equivalent certification
Current experience in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, or Blood Bank
