Job Summary:

The Category Manager IV will be responsible for developing and executing category plans for the strategic sourcing of various spend categories, including Direct, MRO, Information Technology, Shared Services, Engineering, and Construction.

This role will lead cross-functional sourcing and contracting activities to leverage Duquesne Light Company's services and materials spend to best meet internal stakeholders and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creates, implements, and manages multi-year category sourcing strategies for assigned categories to generate value for the company.
  • Leads cross-functional strategic sourcing teams that include representation from the end user community.
  • Analyzes spend data and identifies opportunities to increase spend opportunities with diverse suppliers (including local and regional).
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to understand current and future business needs, as well as external resource requirements, in order to create and execute project pipeline.
  • Drives a measurable reduction in year over year total cost of ownership for assigned categories.
  • Administers the RFP Process to completion.
  • Manages supplier qualification, contract development, and implementation, purchase or blanket orders, compliance, and ongoing supply management processes.
  • Conducts regular reviews of supplier scorecards and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement of suppliers.
  • Leverages e-sourcing and spend analysis tools to drive incremental year over year cost savings.
  • Provides external industry benchmarking to better assess strategy and solutions within procurement.
  • Drives process improvements to create efficiencies in sourcing procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Finance is required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Five (5+) or more years of experience in sourcing various Corporate Services is required.

Travel: Periodic travel to service area facilities and job sites may be required. External travel is expected to be less than 10%.

Scope:

Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs, and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and workflow but may be leading projects or project steps. Work is typically complex in nature, requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role.

Continues to build knowledge base but has a solid foundation to act independently the majority of the time. Still draws on experts and managers when needed but less frequently. Acts as a resource to less experienced staff on routine issues.

Decision Impact:

Problems and issues faced are complex. Draws on past experience on a regular basis to solve problems and take new perspectives on existing solutions. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.

Hybrid Work:

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely.

Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Storm Roles:

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset.

Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service, or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.

Data Governance:

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities, and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
