The Crook County District Attorney's Office serves the State of Oregon by prosecuting both adult and juvenile criminal cases as well as overseeing child support enforcement in Circuit Court.

Responsibilities:

Act as a trial attorney representing the State of Oregon in the prosecution of adult and juvenile criminal cases in Circuit Court.

The Assistant Prosecutor will support the District Attorney in fulfilling all responsibilities, including but not limited to arraignments, release hearings, restitution hearings, plea/sentencing hearings, probation and vocation hearings, contempt proceedings, civil commitments, juvenile and child support hearings, and jury trials.

Conduct case intake, which involves reviewing police reports, assessing the need for further investigation, and determining appropriate charges to file; initiate charges by Information or Indictment on behalf of the District Attorney.

Engage in crime scene investigations as needed, advising law enforcement on evidence collection and assisting with search warrant affidavits.

Qualifications:


Education – Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Must be a member in good standing with the Oregon State Bar.

Experience:

Assistant Prosecutor I:
0-3 years of relevant experience

Assistant Prosecutor II:
3+ years of relevant experience

Prior experience in a District Attorney's Office is preferred.

Consideration will be given for any satisfactory combination of experience and training that demonstrates the knowledge and abilities to perform the aforementioned duties.

Current driver's license required.

Prior to or on date of hire:

Must complete a thorough employment and/or criminal history check.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
Final candidates will be required to provide official proof of college degree and certified transcripts.
