Job Description:

The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist is responsible for operating diagnostic imaging equipment in a professional manner for medical diagnosis and treatment. This includes quality treatment to patients, producing quality radiographs, maintaining accurate records, and distributing reports of examination findings to providers.

The technologist is also responsible for communication with radiologists, physicians, patients, and other persons, as well as performing relief and/or other project duties.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide expedient care and compassionate treatment to each patient.
  2. Position patients accurately, instruct patients on breathing control, and select technical factors that are accurate and compensating for patient size, age, and mobility.
  3. Operate X-Ray and CT equipment according to established health and safety regulations, following procedural guides and regulations of the department and SPMC.
  4. Perform all clerical procedures, including patient reception, charging, documentation, statistics, report posting, and exam sign out procedures.
  5. Occasionally schedule patients for Mammography, X-Ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
  6. Utilize sound sterile technique to prevent contamination and/or cross contamination.
  7. Participate in the department's Quality Assurance program and perform assigned Quality Control tasks.
  8. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, both in the hospital and when off duty.
  9. Attend department meetings and special meetings as required.
  10. Learn and enter patient information into the RIS.
  11. Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Function:

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, all employees are expected to support the HexaQuEST Health, Inc. mission, vision, and values; comply with SPMC policies and procedures; and conduct themselves in an ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner at all times.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • At least one year of RT experience, preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or an equivalent registry as a Rad Tech and CT Tech; required within one year of hire.
  • Current and unrestricted Radiologic Technologist Certification through the Washington State Department of Health.
  • BLS Certification.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of radiographic equipment and how to properly care for this equipment.
  • Working knowledge of all basic and special DI procedures performed at Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC).
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt exam to address problems of patient care as they arise and make timely and effective decisions to appropriately resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development, and life stages to meet each patient's need.
  • Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other healthcare professionals, managers, and patients.
