Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at Upstate University Hospital. As a Research Assistant Professor, you will be responsible for managing our microscopy core, providing expert guidance on imaging methods, and developing educational programs for students and faculty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a state-of-the-art microscopy core, providing access to a range of imaging modalities, including light, fluorescence, confocal, 2-photon, super-resolution, light sheet, and spin disc microscopy.
  • Develop and implement training programs for core users, covering microscopy concepts, image acquisition, and image analysis.
  • Collaborate with principal investigators to identify imaging needs and develop strategies for equipment acquisition and grant writing.
  • Provide expert consultation on scientific rigor, data analysis, and storage.
  • Develop and teach graduate-level courses in microscopy concepts.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Neurosciences or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing a microscopy core, including training and education.
  • Expertise in multiple imaging modes.
  • Ability to learn and teach new methods in microscopy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience running a core imaging facility in an academic environment.

Work Environment:

Weekdays and as needed.
