Position Summary:
The primary focus of the BookStore Leader is to ensure effective Strategic Leadership, Financial Management, and Operations Management while overseeing customer service, sales, inventory control, marketing, merchandising, and volunteer involvement within the church's bookstore.
Key Responsibilities:
The BookStore Leader will be responsible for:
Strategic Leadership
• Formulating and implementing strategies that align bookstore initiatives with ministry objectives and plans from ministry leaders.
• Collaborating with ministry leaders to assess bookstore requirements and enhance inventory management.
• Partnering with Communications and Media to reinforce messaging for the church.
Financial Management
• Overseeing inventory management and making informed purchasing decisions based on projected needs.
• Working with relevant personnel to facilitate the purchasing process effectively.
• Managing cash flow to ensure financial compliance.
• Accurately processing transactions across various payment methods.
• Handling cash transactions with precision.
Operations Management
• Planning and executing store campaigns, including maintaining the store's physical appearance and display setups.
• Leading inventory management efforts, including procurement, receiving, and organizing products, as well as restocking and merchandising.
• Fostering a welcoming environment with exceptional customer service, ensuring each guest feels acknowledged and valued.
• Facilitating effective communication to achieve bookstore objectives, including distributing promotional materials and gathering feedback.
• Supporting ministry leaders by organizing volunteer training and promoting engagement.
Qualifications:
• Proven ability to engage with diverse individuals.
• Demonstrated experience in leading volunteer teams.
• Ability to learn and complete necessary training programs.
• Proficient in managing sales efficiently during varying levels of customer traffic.
• Strong communication skills with guests, volunteers, and staff.
• Availability to work on Sundays and some evenings as required.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cash management.
• Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role with volunteers.
• Minimum of 2 years in retail or customer service.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods, perform some walking, bending, and occasional lifting of boxes up to 40 lbs.
