Exercise Science Faculty Position at Husson University

Husson University's College of Science and Humanities invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Exercise Science to begin in Spring or Fall 2025.

This listing is to meet the needs of a new and rapidly growing program, with approximately 100 students starting the program each year.

Candidates should have interest in being part of developing an effective and meaningful program that successfully advances students to pursue graduate interests or professional placement.

This Exercise Science position will complement existing programmatic expertise among faculty in the Department of Science within the College of Science and Humanities, which also offers undergraduate degrees in Health Sciences, Biology (with concentrations available in Biochemistry and Environmental Science), and Pre-Medicine.

This program is offered in 2-tracks and serves students in preparation of the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program as well as a professional Exercise Science development track.

Husson University is a private institution of approximately 3500 undergraduate and graduate students located in Bangor, Maine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching exercise science courses for undergraduate students
  • Teaching a variety of courses in bio mechanics and motor learning
  • Participating in local outreach to support the formation of an exercise science sports testing institute
  • Advising exercise science graduates to pursue job placement with a BS degree
  • Managing senior capstone experiences, including research projects or internships
Qualifications

The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate (ABD considered) in Exercise Science or a related area and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.

Candidates should also have the ability and desire to develop and direct scholarly research to engage undergraduate students in the applied areas of exercise science.

Preferred qualifications include previous higher education teaching experience in the areas of strength and conditioning, exercise with special populations, nutrition, exercise physiology, motor behavior, human performance, exercise testing and measures, and exercise prescription.
