Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is designated for individuals with a personal history of substance use who have successfully engaged in recovery services. The incumbent will utilize their lived experiences to assist clients of Community Counseling Solutions (CCS) in navigating their recovery journeys. This position emphasizes empathy and respect for each client's unique experiences and preferences, collaborating with CCS staff to enhance client autonomy, self-determination, and informed decision-making in treatment planning and execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage directly with clients to eliminate obstacles to treatment and recovery.
  • Facilitate ongoing client engagement in treatment services through various communication methods including in-person meetings, phone calls, and text messages.
  • Educate the community and partners about substance use and its effects on individuals and families.
  • Assist clients and their families in recognizing and addressing stigma and discrimination related to recovery.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide care coordination and peer support, leveraging shared experiences to validate clients' journeys and encourage active participation in their recovery.
  • Support care coordination, warm handoffs, treatment referrals, and the removal of barriers to treatment, utilizing harm reduction strategies as appropriate.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all clinical records and data entry as required.
  • Assist in organizing and leading rehabilitative activities for individuals and groups.
  • Participate in clinical meetings to discuss client progress and objectives when requested.
  • Engage in clinical supervision as needed.
  • Provide transportation to clients when clinically necessary to facilitate access to services and support groups.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

No formal education is required. Candidates must identify as individuals with lived experience in substance use.

Certifications:

Certification as a Recovery Mentor (CRM) in Oregon is required or must be obtained within one year of employment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with team members, community partners, and the public.
  • Capability to represent CCS at community and state meetings, including public speaking.
  • Understanding and adherence to confidentiality laws and standards.
  • Ability to work independently in various community settings.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Reliability in attendance and following supervisory direction.
  • Proficiency in typing and basic office software applications.
  • Effective communication of complex and confidential information.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Successful completion of all criminal background checks as mandated by state regulations. Candidates must maintain valid personal auto insurance and a driver's license for travel related to CCS business.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position involves work in both office and community settings, including schools, client residences, hospitals, and public agencies. The work environment may vary in noise levels and requires adherence to standard safety precautions.
