Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Event Services Manager, the Event Operations Leader will manage and guide the Event Staff.

This position is crucial for enhancing guest experiences and creating memorable moments for both staff and attendees.

The role requires close collaboration with event managers and may necessitate making informed decisions to ensure exceptional customer service within established policies and procedures.

This position offers an hourly compensation of $20.

Benefits for part-time roles include a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions.

Additionally, OVG grants part-time, seasonal, and internship employees one hour of accrued paid leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours annually.



Venue Information:
Chartway Arena is a versatile 9,100-seat facility situated on the campus of Old Dominion University.

Managed by OVG360 since its inception in 2002, Chartway Arena is recognized as one of the leading mid-sized collegiate venues in the nation.

The arena hosts Old Dominion Monarch Men's and Women's basketball, along with concerts, family entertainment, and various attractions for the Hampton Roads community.



Key Responsibilities:


Oversee the day-to-day management of event team members, including ticket takers, ushers, and third-party security personnel.


Collaborate closely with Event Managers and Guest Services to ensure all event-related information is effectively communicated to part-time staff.

Prepare your designated area for guests, promptly reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.


As doors open, greet guests with a warm smile and a helpful demeanor.

Supervise the scanning of event tickets to ensure proper entry is granted.

Assist attendees in finding their seats.

Remain vigilant and proactive regarding potential hazards, reporting incidents as they arise.

Manage staff in your designated area, addressing issues and seizing opportunities to create lasting memories for our guests.

Respond promptly and professionally to all guest concerns or complaints, escalating issues to the Event Manager or Guest Services Coordinator as necessary.

Assist guests in ADA accessible seating areas.

Enforce all venue policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment for all attendees.

Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external clients.

Manage the flow of foot traffic during large events.

Document, respond to, and report all incidents occurring during an event, including medical or safety-related occurrences.


Be knowledgeable about the arena's emergency evacuation plan to assist guests safely in the unlikely event of an emergency.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Experience in hospitality, entertainment, or security settings is preferred.

Leadership experience is a plus.

A passion for working with and assisting people is essential.

Ability to stand for extended periods is required.

Must maintain a POSITIVE attitude while navigating challenging situations.

Demonstrated capability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and provide innovative solutions to challenges is necessary.

Flexible Availability:
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays is essential.

This position may require working both indoors and outdoors.
