Key Responsibilities
Are you passionate about exploring new developments and crafting testing strategies in areas such as controls, modeling (MIL, SIL, PIL), algorithms, and physics? At Mainspring, we integrate science and technology with our vision of creating a new category of power that is both affordable and reliable, targeting a net-zero carbon grid.
This role offers you the chance to join a distinguished engineering team: to formulate and implement test plans, develop and execute automation, and ensure the quality of our products. The control algorithms for the Linear Generator are innovative and tailored to align with Mainspring's groundbreaking approach to electricity generation. As a Controls Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in validating system behavior. You will significantly impact product quality, collaborate with developers to comprehend new features and technologies, and devise inventive testing solutions to address complex scenarios involving multiple components.
- Formulate test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, and automation strategies.
- Draft technical test methodologies, conduct failure analysis, risk assessment, and maintain testing protocols.
- Guarantee comprehensive test coverage and perform risk evaluations.
Qualifications
- Experience in controls, modeling (MIL, SIL, PIL), algorithms, and physics.
- Understanding of real-time hardware and its implications on timing and discretization.
- Familiarity with sensors such as pressure transducers, RTDs, current transducers, and quadrature encoders.
- Proficiency in automation using Python, bash, and C++ on embedded real-time systems.
- Experience with standard testing tools like TestRail, GitLab, or similar platforms.
- A degree or equivalent experience in controls, mechatronics, electronics, or systems engineering.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include pre-IPO stock options and comprehensive benefits packages.
