Mainspring Energy is seeking a skilled Senior Sustaining Controls Engineer to play a crucial role in the success of our product, ensuring it automatically and reliably fulfills customers' electricity demand.

This position is ideal for a controls expert who enjoys working on complex systems and has a keen eye for detail.

The Senior Sustaining Controls Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve issues, differentiate between mechanical, electrical, and software-related problems, and document solutions to increase product reliability and reduce maintenance needs.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in successful root cause analysis of complex software-mechatronic systems, be a driven and self-directed systems-thinker responsible for creating or improving effective sustaining engineering processes, and possess excellent communication skills with demonstrated collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include managing, documenting, and resolving field issues, diagnosing root causes of system issues, categorizing and addressing gaps in automated system behavior, collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide technical support, and debugging and troubleshooting existing control algorithms to improve system performance and reliability.

Additionally, the Senior Sustaining Controls Engineer will analyze and understand C++ code to interpret behavior, adjust feature designs to address field issues, use Python for data analysis, scripting, and system diagnostics, tune control gains and calibrate systems, and identify and address gaps in system performance.

Qualifications include a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with controls focus and industrial experience, with the level of experience varying based on the engineer level.

Mainspring Energy offers a competitive salary, pre-IPO stock options, and benefits, with the Bay Area salary for this role ranging from $130k to $154k base plus benefits.
