Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our team at Brown and Caldwell. As a key member of our Electrical and Process Automation Services group, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and starting up industrial process automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop P&IDs, wiring schematics, and control system architecture design documents for industrial automation projects.
  • Develop control strategies and control system design for industrial projects for municipal, industrial, and federal clients.
  • Perform submittal reviews from installation contractors, equipment vendors, and system integrator developed automation programming, acting as the owner's advisor.
  • Work and communicate effectively with other disciplines, task leaders, project managers, and with teams in local and remote (virtual) environments.
  • Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Mentorship of local and remote staff within the Electrical and Process Automation Services (EPAS) group.

Requirements

  • S. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant degree.
  • ~ 10+ years of experience as an instrumentation and control design engineer for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater projects, or industrial private-sector clients such as pharmaceutical, chemical, food products, petrochemical, or pulp and paper industries preferred.
  • Strong preference will be given to water and wastewater experience.
  • ~ Experience in design, testing, and startup of industrial process automation systems.
  • ~ Experience with industrial process control networking including Fieldbus technologies.
  • ~ Experience with industrial control cybersecurity is a plus.
  • ~ Ability to work with Engineers/Designers in Revit/BIM environment along with AutoCAD or Bentley P&ID software.
  • ~ Solid knowledge and understanding of electrical safety systems, NFPA 70E.
  • ~ Travel away from the home office is anticipated from time to time given the nature of the programming responsibilities.
  • ~ Comfortable and effective with clients and contractors as direct interface.
