Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Support Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a key member of our Highway Patrol Service, you will provide critical support to our operations, ensuring the smooth execution of daily tasks and activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process warrant dispositions, maintain recall warrant data banks, and update files on local active warrants.
  • Maintain records on accidents, firearm qualifications, and performance observations.
  • Check mobile phone records for approval and order postage distribution records.
  • Maintain personnel lists by station and obtain statistical information as requested.
  • Prepare and review reports, travel vouchers, and other forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Receive and respond to calls, inquiries, and mail, and order office supplies as needed.
  • Update office calendars, maintain employee time records, and update manuals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including notary public services and sale of accident reports and vehicle inspection certificates.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in general office work, including database operation.
  • Substitution: 1 year of education may be substituted for each year of experience required.
  • Notary Public certification or ability to acquire.
  • Valid driver's license from state of residence (if driving is required).
  • Working knowledge of TXDPS, State, and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and software systems (e.g., CAPPS, SharePoint).
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.

Ambulatory skills, hand-eye coordination, and arm/hand/finger dexterity are required. Ability to speak, hear, and exercise visual acuity. Ability to transfer weights of fifty (50) pounds anticipated for this position. Driving requirements: Occasional (5%).

Testing is required for candidates to be considered for the oral interview board and will be notified via email provided on the application. Typing Test is required, but will not be used as a disqualifier.
