Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
The Hull Mechanical and Electrical Systems (HM&E) Training Specialist is tasked with the creation, execution, and presentation of the HM&E Design Documentation for the OPC program.

  • Regular attendance and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Assist in the formulation of HM&E Factory Acceptance Training (FAT) and seek USCG approval.
  • Develop and implement the curriculum for HM&E Familiarization (FAM) Training.
  • Ensure all HM&E Training delivery aligns with contractual obligations.
  • Conduct training sessions and establish criteria for assessing the effectiveness of training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Training Management to ensure training requirements are clearly understood.
  • Support Human System Integration (HSI) and Human Factors Engineering (HFE) testing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the OPC HM&E Training Manager.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree along with a minimum of five years of experience in the marine sector, including at least one year of prior training experience is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience with USCG or USN Shipboard Training Teams, Damage Control Training Teams, Navy Electronics Engineering Training, or Marine Engineering is desirable. Multiple operational afloat tours are also preferred. Formal Military Instructor credentials and current compliance with USCG regulations are advantageous.

Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Ability to interpret various documents such as business publications, professional documents, company policies, and governmental regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for understanding assignments and conveying routine information. Capability to efficiently process and analyze large volumes of data.

Behavioral Attributes:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Attributes such as integrity, adaptability, initiative, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are crucial. Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information related to Eastern Shipbuilding Group.

Working Environment:
The characteristics of the work environment are representative of those encountered while performing essential job functions. The employee may face risks associated with electrical equipment. The noise level is typically low to moderate, similar to an office setting.

Physical Requirements:
This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Regular communication is required. The employee may frequently need to stand, walk, use hands for handling tasks, and reach with arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
