Medical Assistant Sentara Hand Surgery Leigh

As a Medical Assistant with Sentara Healthcare, you will work directly with a doctor, conducting phlebotomy, clinical, and clerical duties. This role involves bringing patients into rooms, taking vitals, verifying patient information, and preparing them for the doctor.
Responsibilities- Perform patient care and administrative/clerical tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting or one year experience as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman preferred
- Phlebotomy experience preferred, plus experience with electronic medical records
- Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic) required
- HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Certification - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), EMT Basic - Certifications - National Registry Of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - Certification - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
