The 5NW ICU is a specialized 12-bed unit dedicated to providing care for patients experiencing severe or life-threatening medical conditions. Our team is equipped to manage cases requiring advanced life support and critical interventions. Conditions treated may include, but are not limited to, acute respiratory failure, severe pulmonary embolism, critical endocrine disorders, and other serious medical emergencies.

Position Overview:

The role involves delivering direct nursing care in environments where patients necessitate comprehensive assessments and interventions, adhering to the established protocols and guidelines of the healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities:

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Collects extensive data relevant to the patient from various sources to create a comprehensive understanding of their needs.
  • Evaluates and integrates assessment data to determine relevant diagnoses or conditions.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and the healthcare team to identify optimal outcomes.
  • Formulates a care plan that outlines strategies and alternatives to achieve desired outcomes, utilizing clinical judgment.
  • Implements the care plan, ensuring a safe environment and coordinating with the patient and care team.
  • Assesses progress towards goals and outcomes, making necessary adjustments.
  • Contributes to the quality and efficacy of nursing practice, engaging in self-evaluation and continuous learning.
  • Communicates effectively across all areas of practice, fostering collaboration with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Utilizes clinical inquiry and integrates evidence-based practices into care delivery.
  • Applies scientific knowledge and evidence-based practices in critical care nursing, ensuring care meets the specific needs of patients.
  • Maintains a vigilant and safe working environment.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensure.

Experience:

  • No prior experience required.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent verbal communication to convey information.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
  • Regular visual acuity for near and far distances and color differentiation.
  • Frequent auditory perception for communication and monitoring equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of heavier objects and patients.
  • Occasional physical movements such as bending and stooping.

Licensure and Certifications:
