Job Overview

The Service Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations of the Service Department at Armstrong Air & Heating, Inc. This position reports directly to the Director of the Service Department and is tasked with ensuring the growth, administration, and profitability of the department while aligning with the corporate strategic plan.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the planning, organization, and coordination of all Service Department activities.
  • Train employees on effective servicing procedures and promote customer satisfaction.
  • Schedule service jobs based on complexity and technician experience.
  • Collaborate with the Accountant and Director of Service to manage accounts and negotiate credit terms.
  • Work alongside other department managers to support corporate objectives.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints efficiently and professionally.
  • Engage with suppliers regarding parts performance and availability.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for Service Department staff.
  • Manage equipment, tools, and inventory for the department.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records to safeguard corporate and customer interests.
  • Implement quality control measures to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in HVACR, including three years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers to ensure timely material delivery and competitive pricing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact across all levels.
  • Solid understanding of marketing and sales strategies for HVAC products and services.
  • Physical capability and initiative to visit job sites for leadership and support.
  • Proficient in marketing and selling service contracts and bids.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to the HVAC industry.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to operate various vehicles in the corporate fleet.
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new software and technology, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
