Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at VCU Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare specimens for analysis by accessioning orders via LIS (CIS) and verifying specimen acceptability.
  • Perform established pre-analytical procedures in accordance with laboratory policy in an accurate, safe, and timely manner.
  • Provide support services for the clinical laboratories by resolving problem specimens/orders and responding to telephone inquiries for test results and specimen collection criteria.
  • Utilize excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers at all times.
Requirements
  • Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other equivalent accrediting agencies.
  • Associate Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Sciences or related science from an accredited program.
  • Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays as required.
