Our academic instruction and internship opportunities are fundamental components of Mount Prospect Academy's holistic treatment approach. We specialize in serving youth who have faced challenges in traditional educational settings.

MPA provides full school days within its academic programs. Our educators deliver competency-based instruction and utilize innovative techniques to engage non-traditional learners. We offer tailored academic support services, ensuring students have access to the general education curriculum as per New Hampshire's educational standards.

Role Summary:

The Certified Teacher will collaborate closely with the Academic Team to guarantee the safety and well-being of students during their participation in the academic program. The educator will conduct classes for residents, adhering to a schedule of 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, in their designated subject area. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans to instruct students in general or specialized subjects, preparing assignments, homework, and assessments to enhance knowledge and understanding, and evaluating students' progress throughout the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the academic and treatment team to educate and supervise students during school hours.
  • Deliver instruction, grading, and assessment for assigned courses and grade levels in accordance with the school curriculum.
  • Implement Individual Education Plan (IEP) requirements, including direct support and collaboration as needed.
  • Maintain and submit necessary documentation, including lesson plans, progress reports, and evaluations.
  • Monitor and implement behavioral interventions within the classroom as required.
  • Manage and request academic materials and supplies relevant to instructional areas.
  • Engage in ongoing curriculum development, professional growth, and assessment as requested.
  • Participate in mandated professional training offered by the program.
  • Supervise teaching assistants in collaboration with the Dean of Students and Academic Director.
  • Assist in organizing school field trips.
  • Attend faculty meetings as required.
  • Uphold student confidentiality and communicate pertinent information to supervisors.
  • Follow appropriate communication channels.
  • Understand the administrative structure and program philosophy of Mount Prospect Academy.
  • Represent Mount Prospect Academy positively to the community and stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Certified Teacher K-8 or High School content.
  • Preferred: BA in the field of instruction or equivalent coursework and experience. Preference for candidates with experience related to students with emotional disturbances or mental health conditions.
  • Required: NH DOE certification/teaching license. Minimum of two years' experience in general or special education, preferably at middle or high school levels.
  • Note: Support for obtaining certification and developing a professional development plan is available.
  • Preferred: Two years' experience working with children/youth in various capacities.
