Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Colorado Springs Cardiology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare providers in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Patients for Care: Direct and/or accompany patients to the exam room, help them position themselves for examination and/or treatment, and arrange examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Verify Patient Information: Interview patients, review and/or record medical history, take vital signs, and confirm the purpose of the visit or treatment.
  • Support Patient Care Delivery: Assist healthcare providers during examinations, take electrocardiograms, place heart monitors, dispose of contaminated supplies, authorize drug refills as directed, and telephone prescriptions to pharmacies.
  • Minor In-Office Wound Care: Perform minor in-office wound care and/or dressing changes in vascular clinics.
  • Patient Education: Provide medication and diet information and instructions, answer patient questions, and complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain a Safe Work Environment: Follow and enforce standards and procedures, comply with legal regulations, and maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Professional Development: Participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, maintain personal networks, and participate in professional organizations to stay up-to-date on industry developments.
Requirements
  • Clinical Healthcare Experience: Required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word/Excel/Teams.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to other offices as needed.
  • Specialty Work: MAs will engage in specialty work in Cardiac Diagnostics, requiring IV certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Cardiology or Vascular Experience: Desired.
  • MA Education: Desired.
  • BLS Certification: Must obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant: Desired.
  • EMR Experience: Experience in an electronic medical record, ADP Workforce Now.
Physical Requirements

This position requires a full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a typical medical clinic and/or business office environment. Work in a clinical setting has the potential for exposure to blood and bodily fluids, and infectious pathogens. Must be able to use protective equipment as required.
