Role Overview:
As a Metrology Engineer II, you will operate with minimal oversight to prepare, execute, and assess the implementation, programming, and support of metrology instruments in tooling, program development, and production processes. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing and resolving design and manufacturing challenges related to tooling, material processing, and assembly techniques.
Essential Duties:
- Analyze and integrate aircraft engineering, tooling designs, and production specifications to formulate optimized measurement strategies and procedures.
- Independently develop programming for all measurement devices utilized in the development, manufacturing, and support of Gulfstream aircraft.
- Collaborate with engineering, tooling, manufacturing engineering, and operations teams to identify optimal manufacturing methodologies.
- Assist in the creation and documentation of standards for the operation and utilization of metrology instruments.
- Generate standardized inspection reports using Metrologic software.
- Evaluate and enhance equipment performance to boost capacity and efficiency.
- Engage with equipment vendors regarding warranty repairs, necessary enhancements, and upgrades.
- Set up and employ precision measuring tools; verify measurement outcomes for accuracy and consistency.
- Contribute to the documentation of new or updated processes involving metrology techniques or equipment.
- Coordinate project implementations across multiple departments.
- Support all Safety, Sustainability, and Ergonomic Initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work towards improving daily operations, ensuring all tasks meet customer expectations.
- Assist the tool shop as required during inspections.
- Provide insights for the selection of metrology instruments and software.
Other Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of metrology instruments, software, and contemporary measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD/CATIA modeling and an understanding of GD&T.
- Awareness of Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
