The Department of Ophthalmology at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center is a leading provider of eye care services, offering both primary and tertiary care to a large health system.

Position Summary:

The Department of Ophthalmology at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmologist to join our team as an Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery specialist.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for direct patient care and supervision in three outpatient settings, including the Main Campus, Richmond V.A. Medical Center, and suburban ASC locations.

The department supports a 16-resident ophthalmology training program with a full 5-year ACGME Accreditation.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain high clinical and ethical standards in decision-making processes and adhere to compliance measures.
  • Establish and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines.
  • Foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.

Requirements:

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology, with American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) Fellowship training.

Eligibility for, or a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required.

Must demonstrate expertise working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
