Job Summary

Cyrq Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced VP, Health and Safety to lead our safety strategy and culture. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing policy and procedure development, managing safety incidents, and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Strategy
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy that aligns with Cyrq Energy's objectives and regulatory requirements.
    • Promote and improve behavior-based safety initiatives throughout the organization.
    • Manage the safety budget and provide regular reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Safety Leadership
    • Serve as the champion and subject matter expert for Safety within Cyrq Energy.
    • Provide supervision and development to direct reports, including hiring, performance management, and compensation.
    • Develop and/or implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company goals.
    • Oversee safety training and compliance, and partner with site leadership to ensure adherence to standards and requirements.
    • Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Safety Execution
    • Develop and review safety protocols for well-field related activities.
    • Manage safety incidents and investigations, and ensure accurate reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventative measures.
    • Lead safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, or related industry field.
  • Ten or more years of Health & Safety experience as a primary responsibility, with experience in Power Plant Operations, Geothermal Operations, Oil & Gas/Refinery, Mining, or related industries.
  • Five or more years of experience leading the Safety function within an organization, including supervision of others, policy development, and report development.
  • Demonstrated experience in using sound judgement and making decisions based on available data, influencing others, and driving change management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Federal OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
  • One or more Active Board of Certified Safety Professional Certification, e.g. GSP, ASP, OHST, STS, CSP, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of drilling operations and rig-related equipment, and familiarity with activities such as coil tubing, wireline, cementing, well servicing, and fishing.
  • Ability to complete domestic travel to remote locations in the Western United States, up to 40%, often with short notice.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk moderate distances, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and tolerate remote environments, indoor/outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind.
  • Ability to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment and work at heights of up to 60'.
