Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Brookdale Courtyard Puyallup. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our community's maintenance and repair functions.


Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair of our community's buildings and grounds, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generators, landscaping, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from residents, including repairing plumbing, electrical, heating, and replacing light bulbs.
  • Supervise the maintenance and repair of vacated rooms, including painting walls and cleaning carpets.
  • Ensure the maintenance and repair of common areas, including walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork.
  • Assist in the training of maintenance staff and maintain positive communication with local authorities.
  • Conduct in-service fire safety training for all employees.
  • Assess and repair plumbing and electrical problems within the community, working within local and state codes.
  • Review safety data sheets (SDS) for potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and take necessary precautions.
  • Assess property damage and file property damage claims in accordance with company policy.
  • May supervise maintenance technicians and building engineers, including delegating tasks, hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues, and firing.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:


  • A high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of related experience and/or training.
  • A valid state driver's license for vehicle travel, as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, building codes, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

This role requires:


  • Standing, walking, sitting, and occasional weekend, evening, or night work.
  • Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, talking or hearing, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Possible exposure to various drugs, chemicals, infectious, or biological hazards, and subject to injury from falls, burns, odors, or cuts from equipment.
  • Occasional travel and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
