Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop roadway projects, including data collection, alignment establishment, engineering calculations, and plan preparation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable roadway solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure project success.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design and delivery processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation design, with a strong technical background in roadway design.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in design-related software, including MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, Geopak, and Corridor Modeler.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, project, and time management skills, with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation design.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple projects and deadlines.
