At Anderson Behavioral Health, we are committed to cultivating a supportive environment for adolescents facing emotional challenges. The Youth Counselor & Mentor plays a crucial role in promoting a positive and encouraging atmosphere by leveraging the strengths of each client.
This position involves creating a safe, non-punitive environment that is both engaging and supportive. All significant developments and progress are meticulously documented and communicated with the Treatment Team to ensure a unified approach in serving our clients' best interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain constant awareness of the whereabouts and activities of all assigned residents, ensuring safety and supervision at all times.
- Facilitate daily residential schedules, providing support during various activities such as chores, meals, and recreational events.
- Transport residents for community outings and appointments in a safe and responsible manner.
- Adhere to all policies and documentation requirements, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
- Stay updated on necessary training and certifications to uphold employment standards.
- Foster a healthy and caring environment within the residence.
- Assist in the overall wellbeing of the youth, including meal preparation, hygiene maintenance, and chore management.
- Implement rules and boundaries with empathy and understanding.
- Address conflicts constructively and promote healthy interactions.
- Engage in recreational activities with residents to enhance their social skills.
- Provide appropriate supervision throughout assigned shifts.
- Perform additional program-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field is required, or an Associate's degree accompanied by at least two years of relevant experience working with youth.
Additional Requirements:
Candidates must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Effective self-regulation strategies and a willingness to learn are essential. All applicants must successfully pass a drug screening and background check.
