Position Overview:

RN Clinical Educator - Perioperative Services

Role Summary:

The Clinical Educator is responsible for the planning, direction, coordination, and evaluation of strategies aimed at ensuring effective onboarding, competency development, and professional growth of nursing staff. This role acts as a clinical authority, guiding staff in delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care within the surgical services domain. As a transformative leader, the Clinical Educator exemplifies best practices, drives change, and fosters a collaborative team environment. This position collaborates closely with the Surgical Services leadership team and reports directly to the Director of Nursing Professional Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and oversee the unit-specific orientation program while tracking the progress of new employees throughout their orientation.
  • Facilitate the development of unit-based preceptors.
  • Evaluate educational needs, design, coordinate, and assess educational initiatives that enhance the clinical skills of perioperative staff.
  • Review and update unit-specific competencies in partnership with unit leadership.
  • Develop and deliver a perioperative training program tailored for novice operating room RNs.
  • Mentor and coach staff to improve care delivery skills and promote safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Assess and enhance processes and procedures within perioperative service areas.
  • Ensure compliance with educational requirements specific to the area.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of required educational activities.
  • Contribute to the annual performance evaluations of perioperative staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support unit, departmental, and organizational objectives.
  • Participate in the review and revision of policies and procedures related to perioperative and procedural areas, ensuring alignment with evidence-based guidelines and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or the ability to complete within one year of hire.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire.
  • Specialty certification to be obtained within two years of hire.
  • A minimum of three years of progressive clinical experience in the Operating Room.
