Diesel Mechanic Job Description

SST Direct is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in the Bethesda, MD area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with equipment department to ensure efficient maintenance and repair operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including trucks, tractors, and cranes.
  • Use diagnostic software and test equipment to identify mechanical problems and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Install and repair special equipment, such as hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmissions.
  • Comply with safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  • Instruct operators on how to use and service equipment.
  • Keep accurate records and make reports.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a certified diesel mechanic with a minimum of 5 years of repair experience, preferably on underground equipment.
  • Must be able to perform jobsite equipment service and repair.
  • Must have Heavy Equipment Operator experience.
  • Welding certification or capability is a plus.
