About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer I to join our team at HNTB. As a Geotechnical Engineer I, you will be responsible for assisting in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
  • Support the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
  • Assist engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
  • Support engineering teams with various tasks and duties, including research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Commitment to continued learning.
  • Exhibits an understanding of engineering principles relevant to geotechnical engineering.
  • Familiarity with subsurface investigation methods.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software applications.
  • Attain knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCad and geotechnical engineering software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering (emphasis in geotechnical engineering).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical investigation techniques and laboratory testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical analyses, geotechnical field services, and report preparation.
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical software (e.g. APile, GRLWEAP, LPile, SlopeW, SeepW, Settle3, and DeepEX) and computer-aided design software (e.g. MicroStation and/or AutoCAD).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
