Position Overview

AECOM is actively seeking a talented and creative Entry-Level Geotechnical/Structural Engineer for immediate employment. This role is based in various locations.

The ideal candidate will possess a background in civil engineering, particularly in geotechnical and structural disciplines. Relocation to the specified areas is necessary for this position, as it is not a remote opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting site assessments and inspections of existing structures.
  • Supervising geotechnical drilling operations.
  • Logging and classifying soil samples while preparing formal boring logs.
  • Creating detailed documentation, including photographic logs and repair recommendations.
  • Developing structural calculations for various components such as concrete slabs, walls, and foundations.
  • Performing geotechnical analyses, including slope stability and bearing pressure evaluations.
  • Collaborating with drafting teams to produce construction drawings.
  • Reviewing Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction and modifying designs as necessary.
  • Providing computer-aided design support for diverse projects.
  • Assisting in report preparation, site reconnaissance, and communication with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Engaging in engineering design and analysis under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Creating designs, models, calculations, and drawings under supervision.
  • Ensuring work aligns with established budgets and timelines under supervision.
  • Understanding and applying relevant regulations to develop necessary standards for project design and permitting.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering or a related field.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is necessary for site visits and client interactions.
  • Successful candidates must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in civil engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively within a project team.
  • Flexibility to engage in a variety of projects.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork as required.
