Job Summary

The Power Plant Utility Operator is a critical role within our team at NAES, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our energy facilities. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for participating in a comprehensive training program to become a qualified Auxiliary Plant Operator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a training program to become a qualified Auxiliary Plant Operator
  • Perform station shift operations and maintenance, including startup and shutdown of plant components
  • Conduct routine plant tours to inspect equipment and provide feedback to the Control Room Operator and other employees
  • Comply with all site safety requirements and procedures, identifying safety hazards and taking corrective actions as necessary
  • Assist with the conduct of bulk offloads of plant chemicals as required
  • Perform all plant switching and tagging of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and duties
  • Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment, supporting corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained or supervised
  • Communicate with other company personnel onsite and at other locations
  • Assist other team members and work with all departments to support the facility in achieving its goals
Requirements
  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment, acquired through four years of high school
  • Some power plant experience in operations and/or maintenance is desired
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pumps, boilers, fluid systems, chemical handling, water treatment systems, pollution control equipment, AC and DC electrical distribution and control systems, etc., and associated maintenance functions is desired
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand fundamental principles related to physics, mathematics, AC&DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermal dynamics, and chemistry
  • Ability to operate valves, switches, controls, keyboards, and other devices associated with power plants
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, portable electric and pneumatic tools, and basic rigging equipment such as winches, hoists, and slings
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license at all times
